The position sits within a Safe and Wellbeing service, supporting clinical environments where patients may present with complex needs, including mental health challenges, distress, or behaviour that may become volatile and present risk to themselves, staff, or others. The role is central to maintaining a safe, calm, and well-managed environment that enables clinical teams to deliver patient care effectively while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all staff, patients, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Security & Wellbeing service within a healthcare environment
  • Support staff working in environments involving distress, behavioural escalation, and mental health-related incidents
  • Ensure safe, structured, and effective responses to incidents involving risk to staff, patients, or visitors
  • Work closely with NHS clinical and operational teams to maintain safe patient care environments
  • Manage staffing levels, shift allocation, and operational continuity across a 24/7 service
  • Monitor service delivery, performance standards, and compliance with operational procedures
  • Conduct incident reviews, risk assessments, and contribute to continuous service improvement
  • Maintain accurate operational reporting and effective communication with senior stakeholders

  • Commitment to training, development, and continuous improvement

Desirable:

  • Background in security, safety, or incident response (not essential)
  • Experience managing large teams or 24/7 operational environments
