The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering services, adhering to Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA) requirements and company procedures.
You will be expected to maintain accurate documentation, respond promptly to help desk requests, and support the wider engineering team in both proactive and reactive tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete PPM and reactive works on fire doors and associated building fabric.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards and Health & Safety regulations.
- Inspect and repair floor, wall, and ceiling coverings, furniture, doors, windows, and fixtures.
- Carry out minor installation work and redecorating tasks as required.
- Support the engineering team with general tasks and contingency measures.
- Co-ordinate and oversee specialist sub-contractors for scheduled works.
- Conduct fabric surveys, report findings, and produce material cost lists for minor works.
- Maintain tools and test equipment, ensuring they are fit for purpose at all times.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
- Proven experience in carpentry, ideally with fire doors in a commercial setting.
- NVQ/City & Guilds in carpentry, woodworking, or related trade qualification.
- Understanding of BM Trada regulations (training can be provided if required).
- Time-served multi-trade operative with strong carpentry and joinery skills.
- BM Trada / C&G / FDIS qualification or willingness to undertake.
