We are looking for a Business Performance Accountant to join our UK and Ireland Controlling function. This is a key role providing financial oversight, supporting operational teams, and driving improvements across reporting, cost management, and internal controls. You will work closely with the Finance Service Centre and business stakeholders to ensure accuracy, insight, and service excellence. As a Business Performance Accountant, you will play an important part in delivering accurate financial reporting, reviewing profit and loss performance, and ensuring strong balance sheet control. The role will focus on strengthening processes, improving efficiency in cost management, and enhancing reporting quality. You will act as an important link between Finance Business Partners, Operational Teams, and the Controlling function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the month end close process for allocated accounts, including review and approval of accruals and revenue related activity.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accurate posting of prepayments, accruals, fixed assets, and provisions.
  • Perform cost accounting and profitability analysis for products, services, or departments.
  • Provide insight on unit costs, margins, cost drivers, and opportunities for cost saving.
  • Support Finance Business Partners with customer reporting and business reviews.
  • Engage with Key Account Managers and Directors to support performance discussions.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and oversee control self assessments.
  • Support external audit, internal audit, and financial control reviews.
  • Monitor service delivery quality from the Finance Service Centre and drive improvements.
  • Contribute to developing better processes, reporting enhancements, and operational efficiencies.

Qualifications

  • ACCA, ACA, CIMA qualified, part-qualified, or able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
  • Experience in financial accounting, month-end reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide commercial insight.
  • Experience of P&L management, variance analysis, and profitability reporting.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Proven ability to identify process improvements and maintain strong financial controls.
  • Advanced Excel skills and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Proactive, organised, and able to work independently while supporting wider business objectives.
