The role involves working to agreed helpdesk response times, ensuring customer expectations are exceeded while maintaining high technical and compliance standards. We are looking for a proactive and technically competent engineer with experience across AC, refrigeration, HVAC, and commercial gas systems. We are seeking an experienced Air Conditioning Engineer with a strong refrigeration bias to deliver both Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance works across commercial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver reactive maintenance and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) for AC, refrigeration, HVAC, and commercial gas systems in line with helpdesk instructions, SLAs, KPIs, and contractual requirements.
- Inspect, fault find, repair, modify, and install air conditioning, refrigeration, combustion, heating, and HVAC plant, equipment, and associated controls.
- Carry out routine servicing and statutory maintenance on commercial gas, heating, and HVAC systems, ensuring full compliance with legislation, manufacturer guidance, and company standards.
- Repair or replace defective components including compressors, motors, controls, belts, valves, heat exchangers, and safety devices.
- Undertake general building services maintenance, including fabric, mechanical, HVAC, and related tasks as required.
- Monitor service delivery against contractual requirements, identify defects or failures, and implement or report corrective actions.
- Supervise contractors, issue permits to work, carry out quality checks, and ensure servicing obligations are met.
- Review work orders, estimate labour and materials, arrange parts procurement, complete all required documentation, and recommend service, asset, or process improvements.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems, theory, and standard industry practices.
- Experience with materials, methods, and tools used in HVAC and refrigeration maintenance and repair.
- AC: F‑Gas certification and recognised air conditioning qualifications.
- Gas: Commercial gas qualifications.
- Proven experience working within PPM and reactive maintenance environments.
- Full UK driving licence – travel required to client sites.
