Our Client is seeking an experienced M&E Project Engineer to lead the engineering delivery of major UK renewable energy projects.
You will oversee full lifecycle engineering across HV, LV, MV, from 132k V systems, ensuring designs are buildable, compliant, and optimised for performance and cost.
This is a key role supporting the UK’s transition toward a cleaner, more sustainable energy network.
Key Responsibilities
- Full lifecycle engineering ownership from concept to energisation and handover
- Coordination across Civil, Electrical, Protection & Control (P&C), SCADA and OEM vendors
- Interface management with DNOs, TNOs, Grid Operators, ICP/BOP contractors and EPC partners
- Construction support: RFIs, field changes, redlining, QA/QC, ITP alignment
- Lead and coordinate design review meetings; ensure constructability across all design packages
- Manage STQs, NCRs, root cause analysis and lessons learned
- Ensure complete and accurate O&M documentation at handover
- Develop Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and maintain progressive assurance during construction
- Manage subcontractors, ITT packages and support procurement including attending FATs
- Maintain clear communication with clients and provide regular progress reporting
- Support process compliance, risk management and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in mechanical/electrical engineering
- Level 3 Electrical or Mechanical Engineering qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience working with DNO/TNO/Grid Operators
- Previous experience in the renewable energy sector
- Familiarity with UK/European standards (BS EN/IEC, ENA, G99/100, Grid Code, CDM)
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
- Safety‑first mindset with strong understanding of electrical hazards, LOTO, PTW systems
- Practical problem‑solving approach with strong constructability awareness
