Overview
Senior Electrician — Location: Barnwood, Gloucestershire – GL4 3RU. Hours of work: 40 (rotating early and late shifts). Contract Type: Permanent.
We are seeking a Senior Electrician to provide technical support and additional engineering resource to supplement the BAU (business-as-usual) teams across a busy, business-critical environment. This role will ensure the smooth delivery of both Planned and Reactive Maintenance whilst supporting project integration activities and maintaining safe, compliant and reliable building services.
Job Description
Working closely with operational teams and project stakeholders, you will help ensure plant resilience, technical assurance and service continuity. You will also play a key role in providing technical surveys, supporting fault diagnosis, assisting with integration of project works, and promoting consistency of engineering delivery across the estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver electrical and mechanical PPM activities to maintain engineering standards and plant reliability.
- Provide timely response to reactive maintenance requests and identify root causes of faults.
- Carry out technical surveys and produce clear reports for engineering supervisors and stakeholders.
- Support minor installation works and repairs to lighting and electrical distribution systems.
- Coordinate effectively with client and BAU teams for initial engineering actions and updates.
- Ensure all maintenance activities and documentation are compliant with safe systems of work.
- Assist with project integration, including coordinating BAU readiness for new installations.
- Manage Permit to Work and associated compliance processes where required.
- Provide support and shift cover when needed for holidays, training and operational continuity.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
- City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2 (or equivalent) and 18th Edition.
- City & Guilds Part 3 / 2391 (Inspection & Testing) preferred.
- Experience working within business-critical, highly resilient engineering environments.
- Strong understanding of Safe Systems of Work and H&S legislation.
- Good communicator with IT literacy and experience using CAFM / PPM systems.
- Knowledge of LV/HV systems; AP experience desirable but not essential.
- Strong technical problem solver with a proactive approach to service continuity.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively with project and BAU teams.
