Join our team as a Water Hygiene Engineer and play a vital role in ensuring safe and compliant water systems. This position is perfect for individuals with hands-on experience in water hygiene or plumbing who are passionate about health and safety standards.
As the Water Hygiene Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining water systems to prevent Legionella and other waterborne pathogens. The role involves planned preventative maintenance (PPM), remedial tasks, and compliance with industry regulations across diverse client sites.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct routine temperature monitoring and flushing of water systems.
- Take water samples for microbiological and chemical analysis, including Legionella testing.
- Perform cleaning, descaling, and disinfection of water system components such as cold-water storage tanks and calorifiers.
- Service and calibrate Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs).
- Carry out remedial works, including minor plumbing and removal of unused pipe sections.
- Maintain accurate documentation and service reports using electronic or paper-based systems.
- Ensure compliance with ACOP L8 and HSG274 guidelines.
- Liaise with clients to provide advice and recommendations.
- Respond to emergency callouts for urgent water quality issues.
- Some prior experience in water hygiene or a similar plumbing/water treatment position.
- Knowledge of water systems and relevant regulations (ACOP L8, HSG274).
- Desirable Qualifications: City & Guilds in Legionella Control or NVQ Level 2 in plumbing.
- Problem-solving, attention to detail, communication skills, and basic IT literacy.
- Full UK driving licence (company vehicle provided).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, positive attitude, and commitment to health and safety practices.
