ISS UK Ltd is seeking a technically strong and commercially aware Senior Financial Accountant to join our UK & Ireland Controlling function. This is a critical position for a fully qualified accountant with experience across technical reporting, financial controls, and team leadership — someone who can confidently navigate complex portfolios, support decision-making, and drive operational excellence.

What You’ll Be Doing
This role blends rigorous technical accounting with hands-on leadership and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll oversee a portfolio of intricate contracts, manage the financial month-end close, and support strategic reporting with accurate, timely data.
From spearheading corporate consolidations to addressing audit queries and leading budgeting cycles — you’ll play a key role in shaping financial integrity and supporting the wider business with insight and control.
Key Responsibilities
- Skillfully orchestrate month-end close procedures to ensure seamless, timely financial closure
- Conduct detailed P&L and balance sheet reviews, providing clear insight to support strategic decision-making
- Manage and nurture a portfolio of complex customer contracts, ensuring financial accuracy and control
- Support and coordinate statutory and group reporting under IFRS and UK GAAP
- Lead and support the coordination of internal and external audits, including addressing audit queries with precision
- Contribute to corporate consolidation and group-level submissions within the central finance team
- Drive forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis processes across multiple business units
- Apply in-depth knowledge of project accounting to support accurate revenue and cost recognition
- Evaluate and challenge existing financial processes to drive transformation, simplification, and standardisation
- Lead and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement
- Act as a trusted business partner, balancing technical compliance with commercial pragmatism
What We’re Looking For
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) – essential
- Strong technical accounting expertise, including solid understanding of IFRS, UK GAAP, and financial control frameworks
- Proven experience in financial accounting, audit readiness, and supporting consolidations in a complex organisation
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret numbers and communicate insight to stakeholders
- Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with large ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
- Confident and proactive communicator with a continuous improvement mindset
- Track record of process optimisation and experience working across cross-functional projects
