Location: Birmingham, B37 7YN Hours of work: 40 Contract Type: Permanent We’re looking for an organised, proactive, and people-focused Planner/Scheduler to join our friendly and hardworking team. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of our operations – ensuring engineers are scheduled correctly, deadlines are met, and communication flows smoothly between engineers, supervisors, and clients. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, and your ability to stay calm, positive, and structured will make all the difference. Job Description As a Scheduler, you’ll play a central role in same-day and in-day management. Your focus will be on allocating work efficiently, monitoring job progress, and keeping everything on track to meet SLAs. You’ll need strong organisational skills, excellent communication, and the confidence to make quick decisions to keep operations running smoothly. Working Hours This role operates Monday to Friday, with shifts scheduled between 07:00 and 19:00. Key Responsibilities Review system reports daily to identify urgent jobs and upcoming SLA deadlines. Allocate and dispatch engineers to jobs, ensuring clear priorities and readiness for the day. Manage work orders throughout the day, updating statuses, maintaining detailed notes, and escalating risks promptly. Communicate regularly with engineers, supervisors, and internal teams to resolve issues and keep jobs moving. Oversee engineers’ timelines, ensuring correct task allocation and accurate system updates. Process returned jobs on the system, maintaining accurate records and audit trails. Support Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) by reviewing reports and helping plan upcoming tasks. Stay organised with inbox management, responding promptly and using colour coding or flags for shared mailboxes. Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications Strong customer service experience (retail, hospitality, call centre, or similar). Confident communicator with the ability to engage with a wide range of people, including engineers. Ability to think on your feet and handle fast-paced situations effectively. Good IT literacy and confidence using computer systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Problem-solving mindset with the ability to interpret information quickly. Willingness to learn and adapt within an operational service environment.
