Location: Liverpool, L7 9PQ

Hours of work: 40 (Monday – Friday)

Contract Type: Permanent

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Chef Manager to lead our Facilities catering team, overseeing the preparation and service of high-quality meals for our site.

The successful candidate will manage day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring that food is cooked and served to the highest standards while maintaining excellent hygiene, safety, and cost control. This leadership role is key in delivering an outstanding catering experience for staff and visitors.

Job Description

The Chef Manager will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering nutritious and appealing meals while managing the kitchen team to ensure efficiency and consistency. You will oversee menu planning, stock management, and food safety compliance, ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and effectively.

This role requires strong leadership, excellent cooking skills, and the ability to motivate and develop a team to achieve high standards every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the kitchen team to deliver high-quality meals and service.
  • Plan and prepare menus in line with budgets, dietary requirements, and seasonal produce.
  • Ensure all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations are adhered to at all times.
  • Oversee ordering, stock control, and cost management to minimise waste and maximise efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment.
  • Support and train team members to ensure consistency and professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with the Facilities team to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Monitor performance, implement improvements, and uphold company standards.

Professional and Personal Competencies / Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Chef Manager, Head Chef, or in a senior kitchen supervisory role.
  • Relevant food preparation and hygiene qualifications (Level 3 Food Safety or equivalent).
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate a team.
  • Excellent cooking ability with attention to detail and presentation.
  • Proven experience managing budgets, ordering, and stock control.
  • Ability to plan menus that are varied, balanced, and cost-effective.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and commitment to high-quality service delivery.
