We are seeking a Technical Assurance Manager to act as the technical lead for Mechanical and Confined Space safety disciplines across ISS UK&I. This role provides centralised technical leadership, robust governance, and subject matter expertise, ensuring modern, risk-based standards are consistently upheld.
As the SME, you will create guidance, shape policy, and help modernise processes across a high-volume, low-hazard technical environment.
We are looking for a collaborative and confident technical professional who can support operational teams, strengthen national compliance, and drive continuous improvement. The role reports directly to the Assurance Director, who will provide mentoring and additional confined-space expertise. While occasional site visits will be required to act as Authorising Engineer, this represents a small proportion of the overall position.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide centralised technical leadership and assurance for Mechanical and Confined Space safety across ISS UK&I.
- Drive continuous improvement in how ISS delivers Mechanical and Confined Space services.
- Strengthen national compliance, technical standards, and governance frameworks.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert, developing guidance, policies, and safe systems of work.
- Support operational teams in delivering risk-appropriate, modernised mechanical and confined space practices.
- Offer technical oversight and governance for higher-risk engineering activities.
- Conduct occasional site visits to act as Authorising Engineer (small portion of role).
- Report directly to the Assurance Director and collaborate with multidisciplinary technical teams.
What We Are Looking For
- Demonstrable experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
- Experienced in safe systems of work when providing Mechanical and Confined Space services.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, confined spaces and statutory compliance.
- Experience in multi-disciplinary technical environments.
- HNC (or above) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Mechanical AP training completed in the last 3 years.
- Confident communicator with coaching and change leadership capability.
- UK driving licence.
