We are seeking a proactive and multi-skilled General Maintenance Operative to support the day-to-day maintenance operations across one of Europe’s largest shopping centres. Working as part of a small, multi-disciplinary building services team, you will play a key role in ensuring the site remains safe, fully operational and well-maintained at all times. This position operates under the guidance of the Technical Services Shift Leader, who will direct and coordinate daily tasks.
Responsibilities
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks as instructed by the MTL/FM.
- Undertake reactive maintenance activities, including H&S repairs, flood response, power loss issues, vandalism, lighting and fabric repairs.
- Become competent in the operation of the site’s BMS and planned maintenance systems.
- Assist retailers in resolving maintenance issues (e.g., leaks, lighting faults, access problems).
- Support and work alongside other maintenance team members as required.
- Liaise with contractors and provide assistance as agreed by FM/SFM.
- Respond to site emergencies as instructed by Site Management.
- Carry out mothballing duties within vacated shop units.
- Maintain a safe, tidy, and well-organised maintenance workshop.
Professional and Personal Competencies / Qualifications
- Previous experience in building or facilities maintenance.
- Experience completing PPMs and reactive works.
- Comfortable working varied shifts including days and nights.
- Broad practical skills and willingness to undertake diverse tasks.
- Good understanding of general workplace Health & Safety.
- Positive approach to teamwork and problem-solving.
