We are seeking a committed and food-focused Kitchen Manager to deliver a consistently high standard of catering for students across the contract. The role centres on providing great food, supporting on-site catering teams, and working closely with the Operations team to ensure standards, budgets and targets are achieved. We are looking for a positive and hands-on leader who can build strong relationships with clients, students and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver consistently high-quality, customer-focused food services to students in line with Company standards
  • Lead, support and develop site catering teams, including training, inductions and ongoing performance management
  • Ensure menus, recipes, food presentation, pricing and portion control are followed daily to maximise quality and reduce waste
  • Maintain full compliance with food safety, allergen, cultural, religious and special diet requirements
  • Manage food production, stock, waste and financial performance to meet agreed budgets and targets
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, customers and ISS colleagues, acting promptly on feedback and requests
  • Communicate effectively with teams, cascading briefings, updates and Company communications
  • Operate catering systems (e.g. Saffron and Blue Runner) and attend meetings or cluster groups as required

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Kitchen Manager, or the potential to develop from a Catering Assistant with training
  • Advanced understanding of school catering and strong food preparation and cooking skills
  • Good understanding of health & safety, accident prevention and reporting procedures
  • Ability to understand profit and loss and maintain financial control
  • Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel independently across the contract
  • Positive, proactive attitude with high energy and drive
  • Level 2 or 3 Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to complete within the first three months)
