We are seeking an experienced AC Engineer with a strong air conditioning and refrigeration bias to deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works across a range of client sites. The role focuses on meeting and exceeding customer expectations by completing helpdesk‑issued tasks within agreed timeframes while maintaining high technical and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver AC and refrigeration‑biased PPM, proactive and reactive works within set timeframes via the helpdesk.
  • Inspect, repair, modify and install refrigeration and air‑conditioning equipment, including compressors, chillers and system controls.
  • Carry out routine preventive maintenance inspections and complete required adjustments or repairs.
  • Diagnose faults and repair or replace defective components such as thermostats, switches, fan controls, relays, filters and compressors.
  • Install, rebuild, replace or repair fans, motors, bearings, valves, controls, belts and associated equipment.
  • Maintain and service heat exchangers, pressure controls, safety valves and automatic gas valves.
  • Undertake additional building services maintenance, including fabric, HVAC and mechanical tasks as required.
  • Ensure all works comply with strict Health & Safety procedures, including risk assessments and method statements.

Professional and Personal Competencies / Qualifications

  • Experience in air conditioning, refrigeration or HVAC building services maintenance, including fault finding, maintenance and installation.
  • Previous experience delivering reactive and PPM building services maintenance.
  • Experience working within FM or building services environments across commercial properties.
  • Proven adherence to Health & Safety procedures, including RAMS.
  • City & Guilds 2079 Safe Handling of Refrigerants or CITB J11 equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds in one of the following: Commercial Refrigeration and AC Systems; Heating and Ventilation; Heating and Ventilation Service & Maintenance.
  • IPAF and/or PASMA certification.
