We are seeking a skilled and versatile Fabric Engineer to join our team, working across multiple sites to provide essential support during the crossover between day and night shifts. This role ensures continuity of service, effective handovers, and timely completion of tasks to maintain high standards of building fabric maintenance.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Facilities Management (FM) and hands-on experience in painting and decorating, combined with excellent DIY skills. You will be confident in handling a variety of ad-hoc tasks, adhering to engineering standards and Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA) requirements, while delivering exceptional service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Respond promptly and effectively to all building fabric-related issues and help desk requests.
- Inspect and repair floor, wall, and ceiling coverings.
- Inspect and repair free-standing and fitted furniture.
- Inspect and clear drainage gully systems.
- Inspect and replace door closure devices, hinges, and associated fixtures.
- Carry out painting, decorating, and other semi-skilled tasks as required.
- Support the wider engineering team with reactive and proactive maintenance tasks.
- Conduct fabric surveys, report findings, and produce material cost lists for minor works.
- Coordinate initial actions for client requests, including handling enquiries and complaints.
- Oversee visiting specialist sub-contractors for PPM schedules and accept completed works.
- Carry out minor installation work and ensure compliance with company and client procedures.
- Proven all-rounder with strong DIY skills and experience in painting and decorating (C&G, NVQ, or time-served preferred).
- Background in Facilities Management with the ability to adapt to varied tasks.
- Experience overseeing a small team of fabric engineers.
- Trade-based certificates are advantageous; training such as IPAF and PASMA can be provided.
- Strong commitment to health and safety and quality assurance standards.
