6-month contract Remote Working Outside IR35 Market Rates (c£500 per day)
The Opportunity: Our client is supporting a major UK Government Agency on the delivery and operation of critical cloud-based digital services and is looking to appoint an experienced Site Reliability Engineer / DevOps Engineer to join an established engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a modern AWS cloud environment, supporting the deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement of live services used across a high-profile government programme.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on engineer with strong AWS expertise, excellent troubleshooting skills and experience supporting production environments. You'll work closely with software engineers, architects and client stakeholders to ensure services remain secure, resilient and highly available.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven commercial experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer or Platform Engineer, with strong AWS experience including: EC2 / ECS / RDS / Amazon DocumentDB / CloudWatch.
- Experience supporting and monitoring live production services – the focus is on application monitoring and is more of an Ops role investigating issues on a daily basis.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience investigating application defects, infrastructure issues and performance bottlenecks.
- Good programming knowledge in at least one of: Java / C# / .NET.
- Good scripting or development experience in at least one of: JavaScript (Node.js) / Python (Django).
- Experience working within Agile software delivery teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including direct client interaction.
- Scala / Jenkins CI/CD pipeline experience.
- Infrastructure as Code.
- Container technologies.
- Experience working within UK Government or other highly regulated environments.
NB: The successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic level of security clearance before undertaking the assignment (around two weeks’ lead-time).
