We are seeking an experienced Billing and Revenue specialist to lead financial operations within a complex, high-volume payments environment. This role is ideal for a finance professional with deep expertise in multi-channel payment ecosystems within a high-volume, transaction-intensive payments environment. This role would suit someone from an industry such as Transport & mobility (including tolling, ticketing, and transit systems), Utilities and smart metering, Telecommunications (subscription and usage-based billing), Healthcare revenue cycle management, Parking management, congestion charging or traffic enforcement systems. We are specifically seeking someone with deep operational billing and revenue expertise rather than a traditional corporate finance or FP&A background.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead billing and revenue operations across high-volume, multi-channel payment environments ensuring accuracy, integrity and operational efficiency.
- Oversee the full payment lifecycle including billing, collections, reconciliations, settlement processes and exception management across integrated payment systems.
- Manage complex reconciliations across multiple platforms, processors, banking partners, and financial systems resolving discrepancies and ensuring financial accuracy at scale.
- Oversee cash positioning, settlement timing and funding flows across payment providers and banking partners to maintain liquidity and operational stability.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP/IFRS, SOX, and internal controls, maintaining a robust control environment within a high-throughput, fast-paced operation.
- Drive continuous improvement across finance and payment processes, leveraging automation to increase efficiency, reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
- Lead, mentor, and develop billing, revenue and customer operations teams within a fast-paced operational environment.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline (Master’s degree is preferred).
- 7+ years’ experience within billing, revenue operations, payment processing or financial operations environments.
- Strong experience working within transaction-intensive environments handling multi-channel payments and customer revenue operations.
- Experience working with payment gateways, processors and settlement systems.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS and financial compliance frameworks.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, PeopleSoft) and financial reporting tools.
- Proven ability in financial modelling, forecasting and analysis.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
- CPA qualification (preferred but not essential).
