Skills and Experience:
- Expert proficiency in Python for data manipulation and automation is essential. You must be comfortable writing production-grade code, not just scripts.
- Advanced SQL skills for querying and transforming data from disparate sources.
- Hands-on experience with Spark (PySpark) or similar big data frameworks and working within distributed computing environments.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably Azure (Data Lake, Databricks, Data Factory).
- Experience using Jupyter/Databricks Notebooks for analysis and VS Code for pipeline development.
- Experience working in an agile environment using Git for version control to manage codebases and collaborative workflows.
- Design and implement models and algorithms.
- Replace manual Excel and VBA workflows with robust automated python pipelines.
- You will be responsible for producing insights to ensure they run reliably without manual intervention.
- Translate complex datasets into clear interactive narratives that drive strategic action across all departments.
The Opportunity:
My client based in the sustainability sector are currently on the lookout for a Data Scientist on a permanent basis. My client is seeking a technical and hands-on individual to drive the evolution of their analytics capabilities. They want someone to help them move beyond traditional reporting.
You will be responsible for building reproducible and code-first data products that power their internal decision-making and customer facing features. Finally, you will play a central role in the transition to an Azure-native stack from legacy systems, and this new stack will be utilising Python, Spark and Cloud computing to automate complex workflows.
