They have a strong reputation for engineering standards, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement, and offer a stable, supportive working environment with modern facilities.

This role would suit someone who takes pride in build quality, enjoys problem-solving rather than repetitive fitting, and wants to be involved across the full machine build lifecycle β€” from first assembly through to testing and pre-delivery.

  • 33 days annual leave including Bank Holidays
  • Overtime paid at x1.5 after 37 hours

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical assembly of new-build packaging machinery from drawings through to completion.
  • Build, fit and align mechanical sub-assemblies including chains, labelling systems and weighing equipment.
  • Carry out machine testing, fault-finding, commissioning and pre-delivery inspections.
  • Service, rebuild and support machinery within the workshop environment.
  • Identify build or design issues, suggest improvements, and take a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Complete build documentation and ensure high standards of workmanship throughout.
  • Support and mentor less experienced team members where required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across build processes and workshop practices.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter within a manufacturing or workshop environment (ideally 3 years +).
  • Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2/3 in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • Ability to assemble machinery and mechanical sub-assemblies from engineering drawings.
  • Confident using a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical fixings.
  • Ability to identify build issues, fault-find, and maintain high build quality.
  • Understanding of quality standards, documentation, and safe working practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good communication skills.
