About the Company:

We are supporting a leading UK manufacturing business operating within a highly automated, fast-paced production environment. The company has invested heavily in UK manufacturing, engineering, robotics, and automation technology, supporting continued growth across multiple production sites. Known for innovation and large-scale manufacturing capability, the business continues to invest significantly in infrastructure, automation projects, and engineering talent.

Role Overview:

This is a specialist Automation Engineer position working across capital projects, manufacturing systems, and automation improvements within a high-volume production environment. You will play a key role in designing, developing, integrating, and supporting automation and electrical control systems across multiple manufacturing sites. The role includes involvement in new production lines, factory upgrades, robotics integration, and ongoing process optimisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and support automation and electrical control systems
  • Program and optimise PLCs, HMIs, drives, and industrial networks
  • Support robotics and cobot integration projects
  • Assist with automation projects from design through to commissioning
  • Produce and review electrical drawings and technical documentation
  • Troubleshoot automation and control system issues
  • Drive continuous improvement across manufacturing operations
Qualifications:
  • HNC / HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or similar
  • Strong experience in PLC programming
  • Good understanding of automation systems, control architecture, and industrial networking
  • Ability to read and produce electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Experience working on automation, controls, or manufacturing engineering projects
