Role Overview

This is a specialist Automation Engineer position working across capital projects, manufacturing systems, and automation improvements within a high-volume production environment. You will play a key role in designing, developing, integrating, and supporting automation and electrical control systems across multiple manufacturing sites. The role includes involvement in new production lines, factory upgrades, robotics integration, and ongoing process optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and support automation and electrical control systems
  • Program and optimise PLCs, HMIs, drives, and industrial networks
  • Support robotics and cobot integration projects
  • Assist with automation projects from design through to commissioning
  • Produce and review electrical drawings and technical documentation
  • Troubleshoot automation and control system issues
  • Ensure compliance with machinery safety standards
  • Drive continuous improvement across manufacturing operations

About You

  • HNC / HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or similar
  • Strong experience in PLC programming (e.g. Siemens, Schneider, Allen-Bradley or equivalent)
  • Good understanding of automation systems, control architecture, and industrial networking
  • Ability to read and produce electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Experience working on automation, controls, or manufacturing engineering projects
  • Strong understanding of machinery safety standards and safe system design
  • Practical, hands-on engineer with strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
