iSQ Recruitment is supporting a well-established engineering business with their search for a Field Service Electrical Engineer. This is a predominantly field-based role (80–90% travel) involving onshore and offshore work across the UK, with occasional overseas assignments. The company specializes in the manufacture and servicing of low- and medium-voltage motor control centres (MCCs) and distribution switchgear for industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, food, and defence. If you are confident working hands-on with control panels, switchgear, and commissioning systems in demanding environments, this could be the role for you.

Hours, Travel & Pay

  • Workshop: Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:45
  • On-Site Hours: Defined by the client β€” up to 12 hours/day
  • Field Work: Approx. 80–90% of the role; UK-wide, offshore, and occasional overseas travel
  • Pay: Β£35,000 – Β£45,000 depending on experience
  • Estimated OTE: Β£50,000 – Β£80,000 with overtime and allowances

What You\’ll Be Doing

  • Assist with design and compartment layout for ease of manufacture.
  • Manufacture and wire electrical control panels and MCCs in the workshop.
  • Perform factory acceptance and site testing, including insulation resistance, high-voltage pressure testing, current injection, functional testing, and fault finding.
  • Install, commission, service, and repair equipment on customer sites.
  • Work on both in-house systems and legacy equipment from other major OEMs (e.g., ABB, GEC, Brush).

What We\’re Looking For

  • Electrical qualifications (HNC, HND, or NVQ in Electrotechnology, Mechatronics, or similar)
  • Strong panel wiring and electrical fitting skills
  • Experience with variable speed drives, electronic motor controllers (e.g., Simocode), and protection relays (e.g., Micom, Easergy)
  • Knowledge of both primary and secondary injection testing
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • UK Driving Licence and valid passport
  • Willingness to travel worldwide at short notice, including offshore
  • Ability to pass (or already possess): OGUK medical Offshore survival training (BOSIET/FOET)
