We're recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a family‑owned fresh produce business with over 60 years in operation in Birmingham.
Working as part of the engineering team you'll be focusing on reactive maintenance keeping production lines running efficiently while supporting ongoing improvements across a busy, highly automated site that has 33 production lines.
Responsibilities- Carry out reactive breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and maintain production efficiency.
- Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in line with site schedules and TPM systems.
- Diagnose and repair faults across electrical and mechanical systems.
- Maintain and repair production equipment including conveyors, multi‑head weighers, check weighers, flow wrappers, gas flush machines and packaging lines.
- Work with PLCs, inverter drives, HMIs and electrical control circuits.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Support building services systems including refrigeration, air handling and fire safety systems.
- Assist with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety and environmental standards.

- Experience working as a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment (food or similar preferred).
- Strong electrical fault‑finding ability and experience with control systems.
- Experience working with PLCs, inverter drives and automated machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Good mechanical maintenance skills (motors, gearboxes, general mechanical repairs).
- Experience working with PPM schedules and maintenance systems.
- Engineering qualification to HNC level or equivalent.
- IEE 17th/18th Edition (preferred).
- Desirable: MEWP, FLT, IOSH/NEBOSH or Food Safety certifications.
