The Maintenance Technician I – Part Time Evening position will work with a team of Maintenance Technicians to provide general maintenance and support in a commercial facility environment for Isothermal Community College.
Responsibilities:
- Closing down the campus each evening at 10 PM, ensuring all doors and gates are secure and locked.
- General facilities activities including moving furniture/supplies, setting up equipment, mowing/bush-hogging, trimming plants, weed-eating, and light chainsaw work.
- General roof maintenance including cleaning, inspections, roof repair and evaluation, and clearing roof drains.
- General plumbing repairs and maintenance including repairing leaks, maintaining commercial flush valves, and occasional use of powered drain cleaning equipment.
- General light construction projects including painting, framing, hanging/finishing sheetrock, and installing/repairing locksets.
- Operating construction/commercial equipment such as skid steer, forklift, scissor lift, tamps, and excavators.
- Responding to snow events and storm events to ensure the college can continue to operate, including snow shoveling and spreading ice melt.
- Assisting other skilled trades in support of maintenance activities.
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Facilities leadership.
Skills and Abilities:
- Develop an understanding and appreciation of the mission, history, current programs, services, and goals of Isothermal Community College.
- Understand and follow instructions.
- Learn procedures and techniques.
- Perform routine work and use equipment skillfully.
- Knowledge of methods and tools associated with carpentry, masonry, plumbing, roofing, small engine/mechanics, and general maintenance in a commercial facilities environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, required.
