Aligned with the Manufacturing EA Codes (14–21), this Lead Auditor role focuses on organisations involved in a wide range of production environments. You’ll draw on your practical industry experience to audit clients across sectors such as general manufacturing, precision engineering, electronics, plastics, food and drink, packaging, and automotive or aerospace production. A solid understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, operational workflows, and regulatory requirements is essential, along with a hands-on appreciation of how production environments run day-to-day.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, conduct, and lead independent, third-party audits
- Gather objective evidence and prepare clear, impartial audit reports
- Host opening and closing meetings to communicate findings
- Build and maintain professional client relationships
- Continue developing your knowledge of the industry and evolving standards
- Complete auditor training and achieve your Lead Auditor qualification (supported by ISOQAR)
What you’ll need to be successful
You’ll bring hands-on experience from manufacturing, engineering or production environments, with a clear understanding of how factories and operational workflows run day-to-day. Strong communication, analytical skills, and precise report writing are essential, along with a professional, quality-focused, and methodical approach. You’ll also be comfortable with regional and national travel (including occasional overnight stays) and hold a full UK driving licence. Your integrity, technical knowledge, and ability to deliver clear, high-quality audit reports will help you thrive in this role.
