An exciting vacancy has arisen at our Barnsley office for a Wills and Probate Paralegal. The role involves assisting lawyers with their caseloads of wills & probate matters from file opening to completion. The successful candidate will ideally be a law graduate with a keen interest in probate. They will be able to work accurately and efficiently, while delivering high standards of client care with the hope that they will take on more responsibility and variety of work as their knowledge and experience increases with ongoing on-the-job training and supervision. This is a great opportunity for an aspiring solicitor looking to gain valuable experience to start their professional career.
KEY TASKS- Assisting solicitors and executives with matters at all stages of wills & probate transactions, from file opening to archiving in accordance with office and accounts procedures.
- Obtaining and preparing file documentation.
- Keeping clients and other parties updated with progress of matters.
- Billing files and obtaining monies due to the firm from the clients and other parties.
- Maintaining legal knowledge and skills.
- Contribute to maintaining and improving office procedures.
- Contributing to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.
- Any other duties which from time to time are required by the firm.
- Excellent client care.
- Ability to organise and prioritise work, under supervision, to meet clients’ expectations and matter deadlines.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to present and argue a case orally and in writing.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as a member of a team.
- Ability to deal with enquiries in a customer-friendly and effective manner.
- Confident and accurate communication skills.
- IT proficient.
- Experience in a law firm is desirable but not essential.
- Previous experience in wills & probate is an advantage.
- Flexible and ‘can do’ attitude.
- Excellent written English to produce documents for the clients, other side and third parties.
- Good spoken English to resolve telephone enquiries.
- Satisfactory absence record or sound justification for high absenteeism.
- Able to promote the image of the firm.
The salary for this role will depend on the successful candidate’s skills and experience.
