Head of Family Team – Exciting Leadership Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and experienced Family Solicitor to take on a Head of Family Team position with a highly regarded, Legal Aid-focused law firm based in London.
Recognised by The Legal 500, Chambers and Partners, and The Times Best Places to Work , this is an excellent opportunity to join an established practice with a strong reputation and take a leading role in the continued development of its family department.
The firm is seeking a Child Panel-accredited solicitor with strong technical expertise, proven supervisory experience and the ability to lead and develop a team of approximately 12 people. A following would be advantageous, alongside the commercial awareness and leadership skills needed to help drive the department forward but not a deal breaker.
The Role
As Head of the Family Team, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and development of an established team, overseeing a varied caseload with a significant focus on Legal Aid work.
Key responsibilities will include:

Managing and overseeing a varied family law caseload, including child-related matters.

Maintaining high standards of client care, case management and legal service delivery.

Supporting the development, performance and continued growth of the department.

Providing guidance, supervision and mentorship to colleagues.

Contributing to the strategic direction and success of the family team.
The Ideal Candidate

A qualified Family Solicitor with ideally 3+ years’ PQE.

Child Panel accreditation is essential.

Previous experience supervising or managing a team.

A strong background in Legal Aid family work.

Excellent technical knowledge and a commitment to delivering high-quality client service.

The ability to lead, motivate and develop a team effectively.

An existing client following would be advantageous.

Bonus scheme offering 15% of billings above a threshold of 3.5 times annual salary.
