ISM is looking to recruit a range of registered psychologists to work remotely with our therapeutic parenting child care intervention framework. These are part‑time roles, 16 hours per week. You will provide psychological support directly (with children) and indirectly (with teams).

Your Role

You will play a vital role in supporting the emotional and psychological well‑being of children and young people living in residential care. You will provide both direct therapeutic support to children and indirect input through consultation, formulation, and guidance with residential teams. Working collaboratively with care staff, social workers, and multi‑agency professionals, you’ll contribute to creating trauma‑informed, nurturing environments where young people can heal and thrive. Your role will include psychological assessments, intervention planning, reflective practice sessions, and staff training to enhance the overall quality of care and promote positive developmental outcomes.

Requirements

  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical, Counselling, or Educational) or BPS Registered Associate Psychologist.
  • Recognised postgraduate qualification in Psychology.
  • Demonstrated experience working with children and young people within residential, looked‑after, or trauma‑informed settings – THIS IS ESSENTIAL.
  • Strong understanding of attachment, developmental trauma, and therapeutic care models.
  • Ability to provide psychological formulation, consultation, and reflective practice to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with children and staff alike.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and ethical practice in line with HCPC and BPS standards.
  • Willingness to travel between residential services and work flexibly to meet the needs of the children and teams.
