The postholder will ensure that students experience a safe, structured and supportive transition into clinical medicine and that teaching, placement learning, assessment, student support and quality assurance are coherent, high quality and aligned with programme outcomes.

  • Provide academic leadership of T Year, ensuring high-quality delivery across teaching, clinical attachments and placement learning
  • Chair the T Year Committee and the exceptional circumstances panel for T Year, and contribute to relevant governance structures
  • Oversee coordination and quality assurance of T Year teaching and clinical placement learning, working closely with clinical attachment leads, module leads and teaching teams
  • Ensure students are supported to move safely and effectively from clinical sciences learning into the clinical practice environment
  • Support students to develop confidence in clinical environments, apply clinical knowledge to patient care contexts, and develop clinical reasoning and professional behaviours appropriate to their stage of training
  • The role would suit an academic or clinical academic with experience of undergraduate medical education, a strong understanding of clinical placement learning, student support and assessment, and an interest in academic leadership within the MBBS programme.
