Join our dedicated Pest Control team and help protect public health, tackle infestations, and make a visible difference in our communities. As a Pest Control Officer, you’ll be out and about delivering a vital frontline service. From diagnosing pest issues to implementing effective treatment plans, you’ll play a key role in maintaining safe, clean environments while providing expert advice to customers.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assessing and resolving pest infestations in homes, businesses and common spaces
- Carrying out inspections, surveys and investigating root causes of pest activity
- Delivering appropriate treatments using safe and effective methods
- Advising customers on prevention and best practice
- Recording your work through reports and digital systems
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and partner organisations
- Supporting service improvements and identifying opportunities to grow the service
What we’re looking for:
- A recognised pest control qualification (e.g. RSPH Level 2 or BPCA or equivalent)
- Hands-on experience dealing with a range of public health pests
- Strong understanding of treatment methods and safe pesticide use
- Ability to assess situations, manage risks and recommend solutions
- Good knowledge of relevant legislation and professional standards
- Confident communication skills with a customer-focused approach
- Ability to produce clear reports and use technology effectively
- A flexible approach, including occasional out-of-hours working
About the team:
You’ll be part of a hardworking and supportive Pest Control team within our Street Operations service, reporting to the Pest Control Manager. The team plays a crucial role in protecting the borough’s environment and supporting residents through responsive, professional and high-quality services. Working in a fully frontline role, you’ll be out in the community every day, collaborating with colleagues across the council and making a tangible difference where it matters most.
