About The Role
The Civil Protection Division was created to respond to events that take place across the borough, with a focus on response and safety, delivered by front line services. We are looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals for the role of Neighbourhood Patrol Out of Hours Officer within the Neighbourhood Patrol Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team, and to be actively involved in helping to create a high performing service that responds, investigates and helps to resolve antisocial behaviour, environmental waste and statutory nuisance (including noise) complaints. The role will involve engaging, educating and enforcing where necessary in relation to these types of issues, using a range of powers, so experience in this area is necessary. The work will predominantly involve being out and about around the borough, patrolling areas where there are known issues. There will also be occasions when office-based work will need to be undertaken such as utilizing information technology systems to record information, writing statements for legal proceedings etc.
Responsibilities
- Engage with communities to address antisocial behaviour, environmental waste and statutory nuisance complaints.
- Educate and enforce where necessary, using a range of powers.
- Patrol areas around the borough and respond to known issues.
- Undertake office-based work as needed, including using IT systems to record information and writing statements for legal proceedings.
What we are looking for
- A clean driving license as some driving is involved in the role.
- Knowledge of legislation and enforcement around antisocial behaviour, environmental waste, statutory nuisance.
- Enforcement experience.
- Experience of successful multi-agency working.
- Able to work with minimum supervision.
- Customer focused and driven to provide an excellent service.
Location and hours
The post is based at 222 Upper Street and involves working shifts on a rota that are predominantly out of hours (including at weekends), for which a shift allowance is paid.
