An exciting opportunity to apply for a new Senior Substance Misuse Worker post, working within a unique and innovative team - YCSMAS (Youth Counselling, Substance Misuse and Alcohol Service) within Young Islington, an outstanding local Authority. In this role, you will be part of a unique and innovative integrated team of substance use practitioners and counsellors, dedicated to providing a holistic trauma informed wrap around service to young people in Islington.

Whilst working alongside the Youth Justice Service, Targeted Youth Support and Islington Collaboration Action Network, the team also benefits from strong partnership work with CAMHS, Children’s Social Care, local schools and the Violence Against Women & Girls service. This role will involve managing substance use practitioners, assessing and managing case allocations, developing referral pathways, managing case recording systems and the referral and allocation management system. You will provide specialist and clinical substance use guidance to colleagues and professionals and attend various multidisciplinary and multi agency meetings. This role also involves the development and delivery of training to professionals, parents and young people. You will hold a small case load and assist in promoting the service to increase referrals.

YCSMAS supports over 200 young people per year. This role will involve amongst other duties:

  • Managing IYPDAS duty, assessments, referrals and allocations
  • Managing three IYPDAS team members
  • Leading on outreach and partnership work
  • Liaising with stakeholders and commissioners
  • Developing and promoting the service and building referral pathways with partners
  • Holding a small case load
