About The Role

Islington Council is recruiting foster carers. Do something incredible and make a difference to local children.

Foster carers change lives by providing a safe and nurturing home on a short or long-term basis for children whose families are in crisis. They give support to our children, helping them grow and develop in discovering their full potential. We welcome foster carers from all backgrounds, of all ages, ethnicity, sexuality, gender identity and whether single or in a relationship. Do you have room in your heart and your home for a child?

Do you have room in your heart and your home for a child?

We welcome carers from all backgrounds, of all ages, ethnicity, sexuality, gender identity and whether single or in a relationship. You don’t have to have children of your own; you can be working or on benefits and it doesn’t matter whether you own or rent your home.

We simply need people who can listen to a child, keep them safe and support them to develop.

To foster with Islington you must:

  • Have a spare bedroom if you want to foster children over two years old.
  • Be able to take children to and from school to health appointments and to meet their family.
  • Be in general good health.
  • Be able to speak, read and write English.
  • Be available for a child whenever they need you.
  • Be committed to attending our training and support groups.

When you become an Islington foster carer, you become part of the ‘team around the child’ working closely with our service and other professionals to give children and you all the support needed.
