Job Description
Domestic Gas Engineer
To carry out a range of gas work on domestic systems and appliances within the Councils housing stock, as scheduled or directed by line managers/supervisors/dispatchers.
The Domestic Gas Engineer will be responsible for ensuring all work is completed to a high standard, maintaining good first time fix rates to ensure decent, suitable and safe housing for Islington Council residents.
Islington Council Domestic Gas Engineers will carry out routine landlord gas safety checks as well as fault diagnosis, repairs and installation of parts in respect of both modern and traditional heating/hot water appliances, in accordance with legislative requirements, industry guidance/best practice and manufacturers instructions.
The Domestic Gas Engineer will also undertake all functions associated with their role as part to of a contractual out of hours rota.
Out of hours working will include regular weekday evenings, weekends and public/bank holidays.
These unsociable hours elements will attract enhanced rates of pay in addition to the basic salary in line with Islington Council policies.
- Considerable experience post qualification
- Hold UK Driving License
- Holds up to date Gas Safe Qualification – ACS, CCN1 etc
- Willing and able to work as part of a team and independently showing initiative dealing with situations and completing tasks.
- To effectively communicate with customers to explain the correct operation of gas appliances and the importance of regularly servicing gas appliances
- Ability to work to deadlines and timescales and liaise with managers and customers regarding changes to schedules or appointments
- Be willing and able to work with and train apprentices or other personnel as required.
- Any other duties as may reasonably be requested by the Contract Supervisor/Manager.
