About The Role

Job overview:

We are looking to recruit a new Commercial and Residential Property Officer to provide valuable support to the Commercial Property Team and Residential Right to Buy Team.

This role sits within the Commercial Property team which is responsible for providing a comprehensive valuation, asset and estate management function in respect of property owned by the Council to ensure the optimum use of resources.

Main duties:

Key responsibilities will include

Assisting with preparation of decision reports and KPI reporting

Updating the council’s estate management database Concerto and producing reports as required

Liaising with the Council’s sundry income team to set up accounts to recover rent, service charges and payment of other costs in connection the council’s property portfolio, and dealing with associated queries

Managing and paying invoices and costs incurred by the council in connection with its property portfolio

Processing all incoming information from Housing Department relating to Right to Buy and collating valuation requests

Open case files for Right to Buy requests including lease plans for Sales Reports, arrange inspections for Valuer appointments, and process Right to Buy valuation reports

We’re looking for someone who has experience of setting up and calculating rent and service charge accounts and recovering sums due. You will also need proven experience in managing financial ledgers, setting up payments for authorisation and dealing with tenant arrears. And having the experience and skills to support a team and service users and respond effectively to requests for information and support will be key.

The Commercial Property Team and Right to Buy Team both sit within the Corporate Asset Management function which is part of the New Homes and Corporate Landlord Service. This brings together development and management of all council owned and managed assets (other than existing housing stock) into one place and supports delivery of our Corporate Landlord model. You’ll be part of the wider Community Wealth Building directorate which aims to put people at the heart of economic development, working with residents, communities and businesses to tackle economic inequality and create an economy that works for everyone.
