Our apprenticeships combine working in a great job, with training, development, and a competitive salary. You will be given dedicated time in your working week to focus on your studies. You will also have access to a network of colleagues from within the organisation and tutors to support your learning.
Apprenticeship Structure
The Business Administration apprenticeship consists of a 24-month opportunity to learn and to provide support to one of the following teams:
- The Adult Brokerage Team: The team works closely with Social work, Health colleagues in the NHS, Finance colleagues, Providers and Commissioning services to arrange care and support that is safe, timely, person centred and delivers value for money. You will help ensure that key services such as data handling, including weekly reports, handling of contracts and other regular updates necessary within Brokerage run smoothly. You will coordinate the team monthly meetings, manage the Voids reports and coordinate the monthly duty rota.
- Data and Finance - Contracts: Work with financial information and data from our commissioned services to demonstrate how our work directly impacts the lives of residents, either by supporting the shaping of services or ensuring value for money. This role is an opportunity to contribute to finance and data work within Adult Social Care practices.
- Service Delivery Team for Estate Services: As part of the frontline Service Delivery Team, you will help ensure that key services such as caretaking, repairs, and waste and recycling run smoothly. You will assist with logging and monitoring service requests, such as repairs or maintenance issues, and coordinate the weekend rota for caretakers to ensure adequate coverage across estates.
Requirements to Apply
To apply for this apprenticeship, you must:
- Be aged 16 or above
- Be an Islington resident or Islington care leaver or Islington school leaver in the last 12 months
You will also need to satisfy the following course entry requirements:
- Not already have a qualification at a similar level or above in this apprenticeship subject
- Not have extensive skills or experience in this apprenticeship subject
- Pass the course screening assessments
Closing date: Sunday 26 July 2026 at 23:59.
Interviews: w/c 10 August 2026.
Apprenticeship Start Date: September 2026.
The Job - Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders within the Council and Islington more widely.
- Provide support within the team such as booking rooms, organising events, accompanying officers and coordinating meetings.
- Record actions and decisions on IT systems.
- Use software including Word and Excel; training will be provided.
- Provide support to stakeholders by telephone, email and face to face.
Training and Development
- Complete a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship qualification.
- Have the opportunity to study Maths and English if you have not already achieved a GCSE or Level 2 equivalent.
- Participate in the Council's apprenticeship network and development activities.
- Have access to a buddy/mentor.
After you have successfully completed your apprenticeship, you will gain valuable workplace experience and attain your Level 3 qualification, which can improve your chances of finding work within the Council, with other employers, or help you move on to a higher-level apprenticeship.
