Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist or Psychotherapist

Responsibilities:

• Communicate in a highly skilled and sensitive manner with clients, family and carers, including those who may be hostile or emotionally disturbed.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary team colleagues on a day‑to‑day basis and support the application of psychological principles and techniques.
• Maintain and build good working relationships with senior professional staff and managers across the Trust.
• Plan and organise own work within the service and contribute to the development of psychological services.
• Provide specialist clinical psychology/therapy expertise and advice, including assessments, formulations and plans for treatment of individuals, carers, families and groups.
• Lead and supervise less experienced staff, trainees and volunteers, and provide supervision to non‑psychology staff where required.
• Support service development, redesign projects and coordinate resulting work.
• Maintain accurate records, comply with Trust Practice Standards and manage email communications.
• Participate in research, audits and service evaluations, and collect outcome data for evidence‑based practice.
• Act autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for governance of psychological practice.
• Ensure all clinical care and treatment is carried out under appropriate supervision and leadership.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Proficiency in both individual and group therapy approaches is desirable.
• Demonstrate awareness of diversity issues and incorporate Recovery principles into practice.
• Show competence in using theory, evidence‑based literature and research to support practice.

The post holder will be responsible for proving that the Care Quality Commission outcome areas have been met, implement CQC guidelines and engage with governance teams to maintain registration.

Infection Control:

Compliance with Trust Infection Control Policies and minimisation of risk of healthcare‑associated infection.
