Clinical Associate Psychologist

Are you looking for a rewarding opportunity to contribute meaningfully to adult mental health services in the Teignbridge area of Devon? We are pleased to offer a 12-month fixed term / secondment post (22.5 hours per week) for a Clinical Associate Psychologist (CAP) to join our welcoming and experienced Teign Core Adult Community Mental Health Team. This is a valuable opportunity to apply your training and skills in a supportive, multidisciplinary setting.

As a Clinical Associate Psychologist, you will be responsible for:

• Improving the mental health of adults in the locality through structured, psychologically-informed care
• Undertaking specialised psychological assessments
• Contributing to bespoke clinical formulations
• Delivering evidence-based psychological interventions
• Participating in research activities, appropriate to your training, competence and experience

You will work autonomously on a day-to-day basis, under regular clinical supervision from a registered Practitioner Psychologist, in line with the scope of practice set out in the Apprenticeship Standard for Clinical Associate Psychologists and your own completed training.

• Has successfully completed CAP training, or is working towards qualification
• Demonstrates a commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care
• Is confident working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Main duties of the job include:

• To improve the mental health of people within the agreed locality by undertaking specialised psychological assessments, contributing to bespoke clinical formulations, delivering structured, evidence-based and psychologically-informed interventions and undertaking agreed research activity, all appropriate to the post-holder's level of training, competence and experience.
• To work autonomously on a day-to-day basis, under supervision from a registered Practitioner Psychologist and within the scope of practice set out within the Apprenticeship Standard for Clinical Associate Psychologists and their own training.

All clinical work will be overseen and reviewed regularly through supervision provided by an HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist. The post holder is required to hold and maintain membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and abide by the relevant Code of Conduct. The post holder will also be required to join and maintain a voluntary accreditation scheme for Clinical Associate Psychologists as these become established and available nationally.

Job responsibilities include:

• Works as part of a multi-disciplinary community team or in specialised clinical settings.
• Consults with relevant external agencies such as primary care, social services, independent and voluntary sector, to facilitate and enable intervention at multiple levels.
• Communicates clearly and empathetically to clients, families and carers.
• Establishes a rapport with individuals who have mental health disorders or other difficulties.
• Provides written reports and assessments for clients, their families and other agencies.

Person Specification:

• Knowledge: Post-Graduate level knowledge of applied psychological theory and research within the relevant area of practice (Adult Mental Health).
• Qualifications: A professional qualification as a Clinical Associate Psychologist demonstrated through a masters degree in Applied Psychology accredited by the BPS.
• Experience: Experience of working as a trainee, apprentice or qualified Clinical Associate Psychologist within the specific clinical area of practice.
