Patient Transport Service/Transport Team Leader (Dispatch Focused)
Band 4 – full time salary – £26,530 to £29,114
!!Please note!!: There will be a driving assessment in a C1 classed vehicle and a competency-based interview. Applicants should bring a valid Driving Licence and either a Driving Licence check code or their National Insurance number.
Main duties of the job
- Be responsible as the Integrated Transport Services Team Leader for daily operations of the PTS Dispatch Team and assist with the running of Patient Transport and Non-Patient Transport Services.
- Carry out duties of Patient Transport Services Care Assistant / Driver.
- In conjunction with the resourcing administrator, ensure staffing levels are maintained within operational hours to meet contractual requirements, providing short notice cover for staffing to meet unexpected demand, aligned with hospital needs.
- Carry out quality audits and statistical returns, including analysis and preparation of PTS Electronic Booking data for business planning, CCG reports, and resource management. Identify and implement cost savings and ensure staff follow established processes.
- Provide ongoing training and technical support for all end users of PTS Electronic Booking and dispatch systems.

Job responsibilities
- Assist in providing patient demand pattern information to influence staff rotas.
- Ensure accurate completion and action of vehicle/base/equipment defect reports.
- Assist with the collation and production of reports.
- Liaise with NHS colleagues, voluntary sector, social services, independent sector, service users, and ambulance control officers.
- Ensure adherence to Trust/Service policies.
- Support staff in difficult circumstances.
- Coordinate with patients, carers, and Healthcare Assistants.
- Conduct system checks to ensure operational functionality.
- Handle complaints appropriately.
- Complete non-attendance reports for contracted staff and ensure correct return-to-work procedures.
- Carry out patient movement risk assessments.

Person Specification
- Driving experience of a range of vehicles including C1 category licenses.
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
- Experience and knowledge within the Patient Transport Service.
- Ambulance D1 BTEC LEVEL 2 in Ambulance Driving (or equivalent qualification).
