Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role offers strong sales and marketing backing from the outset, including support from an experienced marketing specialist. You will work alongside an established and successful technical sales team with proven leadership already in place, providing a strong platform for your own success from day one.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead outbound sales and market penetration efforts, focusing on new business opportunities
  • Identify and develop new international markets and customer segments
  • Create, communicate and execute strategic business development plans aligned with company growth objectives
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a future international business development team as the function expands
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partners and distributors
  • Evaluate and optimise multiple sales channels, with emphasis on direct outreach and strategic partnerships
  • Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and opportunity assessments and integrate into outreach strategy
  • Collaborate with engineering, marketing, and product teams to align customer needs with product offerings
  • Represent the company at international trade shows, events, and customer meetings
  • Track pipeline performance, report on KPIs, and refine strategies accordingly
  • Visit existing and prospective customers globally to build relationships and close out opportunities

Candidates need to have:

  • Proven track record in business development, international sales, or market expansion (B2B, preferably technical/industrial products)
  • Strong experience in proactive outbound sales and new business generation
  • Demonstrated ability to open and develop new markets from scratch
  • Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of strategic initiatives
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across cultures
  • Experience working with multiple sales channels (direct, distributors, partners)
  • Results-driven mindset with a focus on measurable growth outcomes
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally
  • Leadership and mentoring for team and partner network business development skills and behaviours

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience in engineering/industrial sectors
  • Experience at breaking into multiple industries based on own market knowledge including construction, industrial and large industries
  • Experience building and managing high-performing business development teams
  • Knowledge of key international markets (e.g., Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific)
  • Familiarity with tools for development including effective utilisation of digital marketing
  • Experience of maximising CRM systems to support new proactive market development opportunities
  • Multilingual capabilities
  • Experience working in a scaling or high-growth environment
