This role is office-based; however, it also offers some agile or remote working. The Isle of Wight Council has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Senior Accountant to join our Finance Team supporting the Communities Directorate. This permanent position is well suited to an individual who is either AAT qualified, a part qualified accountant or studying towards an accounting qualification with experience of working in a business partnering or a management accounting role in a complex environment.
The Finance Team is an extremely supportive, collaborative team where effective communication is essential, commitment to providing a quality service is expected and new ideas for improvements are welcomed.
About the role
As a Senior Accountant you’ll work as a trusted adviser to Directorate Management Team - delivering high quality expert advice and insight that shapes decisions and drives robust financial management. Your focus will be on adding value, supporting transformation, and managing financial risk in alignment with council priorities.
- Support the Senior Finance Business Partner in medium-term financial planning, scenario analysis and development of budget strategies.
- Support on key accounting processes including budget setting, financial reporting, monitoring, and closing of accounts.
- Support the Directorate Management Team and Budget Holders on all financial matters including budgets, efficiency programmes, value for money and management reporting.
- Lead the accounting team and act as a point of escalation for complex accounting issues.
37 hours per week.
