The Legal Aid Committee is currently looking to appoint a Deputy Legal Aid Certifying Officer to manage important responsibilities under the Legal Aid Act 1986. This position requires applying the Legal Aid merits test, handling the discharge and revocation of Legal Aid Certificates, reviewing decisions based on financial considerations, evaluating Costs Officer rulings, and authorising financial disbursements for both Civil and Criminal Legal Aid cases.

If you are detail-oriented and have a strong commitment to justice, we want to hear from you! We welcome applications from candidates currently in legal practice. Please note, however, that the successful candidate must not be a practising Advocate when appointed to this role.

  • A basic police check is required for this post, the cost of which will be covered by the Isle of Man Government.
