About Manx National Heritage
Manx National Heritage (MNH) is the trading name of the Manx Museum and National Trust, a charity registered in the Isle of Man and custodian of some of Europe’s most important heritage sites, including the Great Laxey Wheel, the world’s largest working water wheel, and Castle Rushen, one of the best-preserved medieval castles in Europe. We care for more than 2500 acres of landscape and 1 million items in our Museum collections and archives.
MNH exists to take a lead in protecting, conserving, making accessible and celebrating the Island’s natural, built and cultural heritage for current and future generations whilst contributing to the Island’s prosperity and quality of life.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, highly motivated, resourceful and experienced finance professional to join the senior management team of Manx National Heritage, the National Trust of the Isle of Man. As Head of Finance, Governance and Corporate Services, you will oversee the financial management of the organisation, registered Charity No. 603, helping to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Island's nationally significant heritage assets, collections and cultural services.
Effective financial leadership is essential to enabling the organisation to continue delivering its important charitable, educational and cultural objectives while ensuring value for money and long-term financial resilience.
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant and an experienced, resourceful senior finance manager with a proven track record of operating successfully as a member of a senior leadership team. You will have the ability to provide insight and constructive challenge to support future strategic development, whilst ensuring financial stability and growth, and will possess a sound understanding of charity governance.
It’s important you have proven experience of leading a successful finance function, with extensive line management experience of managing qualified Finance Managers and their teams, including responsibility for end-to-end cashflow management. It would be ideal for you to have knowledge of Sage Intacct, as this was recently deployed across Manx National Heritage; however, other similar financial management software experience will be considered.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will drive the quality of financial reporting and management across the organisation, ensuring robust financial controls, strong governance and informed decision-making.
By helping to shape the future of the Island’s heritage, the successful candidate will contribute to a legacy that benefits generations to come.
Working for Manx National Heritage, you can enjoy:
- A competitive salary that increases each 12 months until you reach the salary maximum.
- Generous annual leave, 10 Bank Holidays and a set extra day off between Christmas/New Year.
- Subject to meeting eligibility criteria, the Manx National Heritage offers two exclusive pension arrangements with the Isle of Man Government Unified Scheme 2011 or the Isle of Man Government Defined Contribution (DC) Arrangement.
- Access to the Learning, Education and Development training facility, which is exclusively for Public Service employees, to keep on top of your continuous professional development.
- Free access to the Isle of Man Government Staff Welfare Service which offers professional counselling, emotional support and signposting on a wide range of issues.
- Ability to apply for an unpaid career break after 3 years’ service.
- Access to a Cycle to Work scheme after your first year of employment.
- A relocation package will be available for off-island candidates.
