Investigator - Enforcement & Intelligence Division

The Isle of Man Financial Services Authority (“the Authority”) regulates firms engaged in financial activities, including insurance, pensions, banking, investments, fiduciary services and fund administration. The Authority is also responsible for supervision of anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) compliance for those involved in the financial sector as well as a range of other Designated Businesses, and oversight of compliance with the Beneficial Ownership Act 2017.

The Authority is seeking an Investigator within the Enforcement & Intelligence Division. This is an interesting time to join the Authority to help us deliver our objectives which include an updated approach to supervision and oversight, enhanced data management and analytics, and the reduction of financial crime. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team player who can demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Strong relevant regulatory/industry practical experience in the fields of regulatory enforcement, compliance, risk, audit and/or forensic accounting.
  • Ideally experience of working on complex investigations, inspections or assurance work in the context of financial services enforcement and/or in a professional disciplinary context.
  • Highly analytical, able to interpret large volumes of complex information quickly and accurately and the ability to make logical and timely decisions.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage a workload of varied complexity, to manage competing priorities and to deliver against deadlines.
  • Hold or be willing to work towards, a relevant professional qualification relating to investigative practice, risk, compliance, law, accounting or AML/CFT.

Special Requirement

The post holder may have access to material of a secret, private and sensitive nature. Consequently, the post holder of this role will be required to be checked in order to hold and maintain a national security clearance level (SC). Any offer letter will be made subject to successful SC vetting status being achieved. The SC Vetting procedure involves enquiries about the post holder’s personal and private circumstances.
