We’re looking for an enthusiastic and supportive
Adult Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly team within the Adult Speech and Language Service in the Isle of Man!
You will be based across various locations on the Island, joining our small, supportive team who work closely together! Your work will help us achieve our vision:
“To develop a forward thinking, patient-focused service to improve lives for people with swallowing and communication difficulties”.
This is a varied clinical role which involves working in both acute and outpatient settings.
This will include domiciliary visits within care homes and within service users’ own homes.
You will be an autonomous practitioner responsible for the assessment, diagnosing and management of adult patients referred with communication and/or swallowing disorders associated with neurological disorders, trauma, voice disorders and stammering.
You will also use evidence-based/client-centred principles to implement and evaluate Speech and Language intervention.
You will be supported to work towards attaining your dysphagia competencies as required, and will receive excellent clinical supervision and support.
This is offered as a development Band 5 (Annex T) role and is a great opportunity for you to develop your skills and knowledge.
You’ll be providing evidence-based assessment, treatment, follow up, evaluation and consultancy services for service users with support initially from our senior team members, progressing to be an autonomous practitioner.

The Band 5 Annex T posts are development posts where you will undergo a period of preceptorship with the aim of gaining the competencies required to fulfil a Band 6 position.
During this period, you will be assessed and if you meet the competencies there will be an increase in your salary as you progress up to Band 6.

Housing Assistance is also available where the Department will pay the difference between your current mortgage/rent bill, and that of your new accommodation on the Isle of Man, up to a maximum of £250 per month.
This role also qualifies for a recruitment incentive of £3,000, payable in the 1st, 13th, and 25th months of employment.
