Overall job purpose
This role will provide leadership for the Council’s modernisation programmes and support the organisation to deliver its strategic objectives and Council Plan by shaping, coordinating, delivering, monitoring and reporting on a portfolio of modernisation programmes and projects.
The postholder will lead and direct programme and project management resources, providing professional direction, support and constructive challenge to strengthen delivery capability within the team and across the wider Council. The role will establish, develop and contribute to appropriate governance arrangements at local programme level and at whole-Council level to ensure that programmes and projects are delivered effectively, within agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards.
The postholder will manage and develop a small team, working closely with senior officers, elected members, service managers, partners and external stakeholders to prioritise delivery, strengthen assurance, realise benefits, support sound decision-making and embed continuous improvement across the organisation.
