About the role:

As a Claims Handler at Islands Insurance Group, you’ll be responsible for managing a portfolio of claims, providing expert advice, and ensuring each case is handled efficiently and in line with company policies. You’ll work closely with customers, underwriters, and external service providers to deliver excellent outcomes and support the achievement of the team’s goals.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Handling claims in accordance with company policies and compliance standards
  • Delivering a high-quality customer service and expert claims advice
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with customers, colleagues, and external partners
  • Managing your own caseload across varied lines of business
  • Supporting continuous improvement by suggesting enhancements to processes and systems
  • Assisting colleagues through knowledge sharing and on-the-job training
  • Contributing to team projects and ad hoc initiatives as required

What you’ll need:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and an analytical mindset
  • Experience working in a busy, customer-focused environment
  • The ability to manage workloads effectively and meet deadlines

Nice to have:

In addition to the required qualifications, it would be great if you have:

  • An entry-level CII qualification or a willingness to study toward one
  • Previous experience in insurance or claims handling
  • Confidence handling client queries both over the phone and in person
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach to customer service
  • An interest in developing a long-term career in the insurance industry
