Islander is a Scottish lifestyle and design brand working with Harris Tweed and other high-quality materials to create handbags, footwear, and accessories. Alongside our retail stores and workshop experiences, we operate a growing wholesale business supplying independent retailers across the UK.

We\'re looking for a General Office Administrator to join our team. This is a varied role where you\'ll keep the office running smoothly, support day-to-day admin, and provide additional help to our wholesale department.

The Role

You\'ll be responsible for customer-facing admin — from answering emails and phone calls to placing orders and managing bookings — while also assisting the wholesale team with order processing, invoicing, and account support. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys multitasking and being at the heart of a busy, creative business.

What You\'ll Do

  • Answer customer emails and phone calls in a professional, timely manner
  • Place customer orders and manage bookings (e.g. workshops, events, or trade appointments)
  • Maintain and update company records, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Support the wholesale team with:
  • Processing orders and generating invoices
  • Updating sales records and customer accounts
  • Chasing payments and checking order status
  • Preparing product information for stockists
  • Help with trade show preparation and logistics (when required)
  • Provide cross-departmental support (operations, retail, marketing) when needed

About You

  • Previous experience in an admin, office support, or customer service role
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident using MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with CRM or order systems is a plus
  • Strong communication skills — both written and verbal, with a customer-friendly manner
  • Comfortable working across multiple tasks and supporting different teams
  • A positive, can-do attitude with willingness to \"muck in\" where needed
  • Experience in retail, wholesale, or small business environments is helpful but not essential
