We are seeking Casual / Bank Youth Coaches to support our nurturing provisions in Newport. This role is ideal if you want meaningful, people-focused work with flexibility around other commitments, with the opportunity to move into a contracted position when one becomes available.
About Island Youthways: We provide a safe, supportive and nurturing environment where vulnerable young people feel listened to, valued and empowered to flourish. Many of the young people we support may have experienced trauma and can have emotional or mental health needs, or a background of offending behaviour. Our approach is compassionate, relationship-based and focused on helping young people transition confidently into adulthood.
The Role: As a Casual / Bank Youth Coach, you’ll support young people on a flexible, as‑needed basis, helping them with:
- Day‑to‑day life skills
- Education, training and employment support
- Attending appointments
- Emotional wellbeing and resilience
- Navigating the challenges that adult life can bring
Bank staff play a vital role in covering holidays, sickness and periods of increased need, and are often well‑placed to step into permanent contracted roles as they arise.
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
- Is kind, caring, empathetic and compassionate
- Has experience working with teenagers or young people, and genuinely enjoys it
- Is self‑motivated and able to encourage and inspire young people
- Is adaptable and keen to build positive, influential relationships
- Is friendly, a strong team player, and confident with problem‑solving
- Brings patience, positivity and emotional resilience
- Holds a full UK driving licence, with access to a car and business insurance
Hours & Flexibility: Casual / bank role with variable hours. Shifts may include evenings, sleep‑ins and some weekends. Opportunity to apply for or move into a contracted post when available.
