Specialists in wood roof trusses, floor joist, prefab wall panels, and engineered products for residential, commercial, and agriculture construction projects, Island Structural Systems Inc. is looking for a dynamic person to fill the position of Wall Panel Designer.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design prefab wall panels and spec engineered wood products using specialized software for residential, commercial, and agriculture projects based on customer plans and needs.
  • Prepare the various documents to be given to the client (estimates, technical drawings, layouts).
  • Work in collaboration with other professionals in the team.
  • Accept other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Experience in design software or a diploma/certificate in Architectural, Civil, or Construction Technology or related field.
  • Strong skills in computer aided drafting such as AutoCAD, Chief Architect, or similar.
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans and drawings is required.
  • Familiarity with the National Building Code and Engineered Wood Products.
  • Strong general computer skills required and proficient in Microsoft programs.
  • Ability to work steadily in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Safety mindset, follows procedures and demonstrates safe work behaviours.
  • Organised and pays high attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude and communication with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
  • Punctual, reliable, determined, and willing to learn.
  • Experience working on a construction job site and/or knowledge of the construction process of a home/building is considered an asset.
